How SneezeIndex Content Ratings Work

Updated September 30, 2026 2 min read Markdown

SneezeIndex uses content labels to answer a simple question before a visitor opens an external link: what kind of destination might be on the other side? The directory itself is designed to remain visually non-explicit, but creators can maintain public profiles, fetish-oriented accounts and adult storefronts at the same time. A single blanket rating for the person would therefore be less useful than rating individual destinations.

General / Non-explicit

This label means the public destination is not known to contain nudity or sexually explicit material based on the information reviewed by SneezeIndex. It does not mean the subject matter is suitable for every age group or that every external page will remain unchanged forever. The label describes what was reasonably verified at the time of review.

Mature / Fetish

Mature / Fetish is used when a destination is clearly oriented toward fetish or mature subject matter but SneezeIndex has not verified nudity or sexually explicit material at that destination. This middle category is important because a creator can discuss or publish sneeze-fetish material without the public profile itself being explicit.

Adult / 18+

Adult / 18+ is used when an external destination may contain nudity or sexually explicit material. SneezeIndex presents an age/content warning before sending the visitor to a destination classified this way. The label applies to the destination, not necessarily to every piece of work produced by the creator.

Unverified

Unverified means the link exists or has been reported, but SneezeIndex has not confidently established its content level. This is preferable to guessing. A record can move from Unverified to another classification after editorial review or a creator-submitted update is checked.

Why platform names are not enough

SneezeIndex does not automatically classify a destination as adult simply because it is hosted on a platform that permits adult creators. The same service may host non-explicit subscriptions, art, writing or general creator updates. Conversely, a public-looking profile on another service can still contain mature material. Classification should follow the actual destination and available evidence.

Ratings can change

External profiles are outside SneezeIndex’s control. Creators change platforms and content over time, so every rating includes an editorial freshness component. Visitors and creators can report a label that appears wrong. Higher-risk reports—such as an adult destination incorrectly marked general—should receive elevated review priority.

The purpose of the rating system is transparency, not moral judgment. Visitors who want only non-explicit material should be able to browse confidently, while adults who choose to include 18+ results should receive a clear warning before leaving the directory.
